Newbridge Students Embrace New Experiences at Lionheart Sports Day

A group of Year 9 and 10 students from The Newbridge School recently took part in Lionheart’s Sports Performance and Careers Day, a chance to step away from the usual routine and explore something different.

Held at Knighton Tennis Centre, the event brought together students from across the Trust for a day of sport, teamwork and career inspiration. Our students took part in four sessions: boxing, cricket, pickleball and a careers talk. Each one offered something new, and it was great to see our students engaging with confidence and curiosity.

Pickleball was a surprise favourite, with its fast pace and simple rules making it easy to pick up and enjoy. Cricket encouraged collaboration and focus, while boxing challenged students to stay sharp and push themselves. The careers talk, led by former professional footballer Andy Morrell, gave a real insight into the world of sport — not just as a player, but in the many roles that support it.

Throughout the day, Newbridge students showed maturity, enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new. They represented the school brilliantly and came away with fresh ideas and a few new skills too.

Thanks to Lionheart for organising such a well-run and valuable event.
